We are delighted to confirm we are running this hugely popular course for a second time following the pilot course in January 2019 and now endorsed by the Welsh Surgical Society! This time we have thought about the impact that sitting the FRCS has on your bank balance and have reduced the course cost to make sure you are not left too out of pocket. Course date: Saturday 31st August 2019 10:00-17:00 Venue: National Imaging Academy Wales, Pencoed Business Park, Pencoed, CF35 5HY (15 mins drive from Cardiff- located just off the M4). Plenty of free car parking Course outline: Pairs of trainees will rotate through a series of stations over the course of the day All faculty members will hold FRCS or FRCA. We aim for delegate:faculty ratio of 2:1. Each viva or clinical station will be 30mins lengthFor the viva station each trainee will have 2 x 5mins vivas with 5 minutes for feedback/discussion within that station-General Surgery viva-Emergency general surgery viva-Critical care viva-Specialist interest viva-Basic sciences (specialist interest) viva For the clinical stations each trainee will have 2 x 5mins ‘short case’ using clinical or radiological images instead of patients for the station with 5 minutes for feedback/discussion within that station-Clinicals- general surgery-Clinicals- specialist interest For the academic paper each trainee will be given 30 mins to read through the paper then 15mins of questions on the paper.
