The Market Tales is a new curated quarterly designer market launching April 2 & 3 set in the Inner West’s best kept secret, Precinct 75! Think London Portobello Markets meets NY Williamsburg Market sprinkled with the Food Markets of Spain and welcome to The Market Tales. Set amongst the brickworks of Precinct 75, currently home to Design Twins, The Society Inc, Atoylia, Sample Coffee, Willie The Boatman Brewery and Sydney’s first urban winery A.Retief, The Market Tales is set to entertain and connect designers and artisans to an authentic market audience eager to shop, experience and share a story or two! Over two days, the pathways connecting the 12 buildings of Precinct 75 will act as a narrative thread showcasing 60 makers and merchants across home-wares, fashion, design, art, jewelry, furniture and vintage memorabilia. Tempting the journey along the way will be quality food and drink sample stations and a curated collection of Sydney’s finest food. A soundscape of local music, artists and DJ’s will entertain on both days with each day ending with The Market Tales Sundowner Sessions, coupling beats with batch-made beers and wines. The more non-traditional of stalls will not be uncommon at The Market Tales with a beard trimming barber, cycling pit-stop and even a local tattoo artist being considered over the next few events! Founded by Anna Rizzo-Tassone and Elena Antoniou – both avid market hoppers and veteran PR maven’s, have combined their PR and event experience to bring to Sydney an internationally flavoured market benchmarked against European and New York food, design, art and collectables markets.Anna Rizzo-Tassone says, “I have lived in the Inner West for some time and I have always known it to be a thriving hub of talented creatives in all fields. Having worked with many of them over the years, I felt there was a need to create a vibrant and dynamic playground for them to express their ideas and wares”. Elena Antoniou says, “Equally important to curating the market journey, is our commitment to supporting the artists, producers and makers to ensure their stories are told in an authentic environment.” The pair have teamed up with veteran Market Producer Ariana Aljinovic of Eveleigh Farmers & Art and Design Markets fame and Environmentalist, Tim SIlverwood to create an event that is set to be Sydney’s newest obsession.
