Start Date: Saturday, July 11, 2020 End Date: Saturday, August 29 , 2020 Saturday mornings 10-12 pm or afternoons 1-3 pm Over the course of eight weeks, in two-hour sessions a week, students will learn basic woodcarving techniques, with an emphasis on safety, including the selection of tools, and their care, particularly sharpening, to produce a small sternboard style eagle.Age range is *****. Skill level is “beginner.”Students will come away with a completed sternboard eagle and the skills and knowledge to design and carve future projects. Students will learn to follow drawings and to design and generate drawings of their own for future projects. They will also learn safe wood carving techniques, and how to select tools and chisels suitable for their intended projects and how to sharpen and otherwise care for will be provided. The instructor will provide some tools at the outset, including chisels, saws, clamps, etc., ultimately advising students on selecting and acquiring their own.
