Having a strong general American accent is one of the most important skills for any performer to master. The aim of this half day workshop is to enable actors to examine and practice using modern American to develop the accent for TV, Film and Theatre. During this workshop you will explore the fundamentals of the accent and practice its resonance and placement. By the end of the workshop you should be able to: Employ strategies for placing the accent Recognise the pitch and resonance of the accent. Identify the placement of the vowels and consonants. During the Performance Practice, you will: Practice in partnership with other course members to develop your own skill. Examine how the accent affects your voice. Trainer: Emma Stevens-Johnson has worked within film and theatre for over 20 years. She is a lecturer at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has a Masters in Vocal Studies from Central School of Speech and Drama, a PGCE from Cardiff University and is a graduate of the Oxford School of Drama.
