This training will teach you how to recognize and reverse an opioid overdose. You will become a Certified Opioid Overdose Responder and receive an Overdose Rescue Kit with naloxone–a medication that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose and restores breathing. This training will be open to anyone who wants to learn how to reverse an overdose; you do not need to be associated with an organization to attend. Please note: Organizations may send key staff members to be trained(individuals may still get their own kit for personal use if they would like). If your organization is a registered Opioid Overdose Prevention Program and you would like to be trained in DISPENSING naloxone, this is not the right training to take. Please contact the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) for the Training of Dispensers (TOD) calendar.
