December Boise Idaho Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) Workshop

Bob Sarni is the only Certified Scrum Enterprise Coach (CEC) and Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) that can claim deep roots in the Treasure Valley. He worked for a local Idaho company for 22 years and still has many family and friends in the Treasure Valley. Bob is truly invested in helping Idaho businesses succeed as we transform the world of work together! He is one of the few CSTs that actually works with organizations transforming their world of work through active coaching and hands-on involvement beyond the classroom.   There are many techniques and practices that can help a ScrumMaster perform their role effectively and successfully. This is one of the few CSM workshops that will explore many of these techniques and practices through hands-on simulations while keeping Agile’s values and principles in the spotlight!  Being a great ScrumMaster goes well beyond helping to facilitate the Scrum activities. Success depends on teamwork and teams, impediment identification and removal, collaboration, focus, and continuous improvement.  As one of the largest and fastest-growing agile frameworks, Scrum is a simple, yet powerful way to manage product requirements, elevate quality, and accelerate project delivery. One of the key roles in Scrum is that of ScrumMaster, the person tasked with helping the Scrum Team and organization find success through teamwork, focus, collaboration, and continuous improvement.  The iOnAgility Certified ScrumMaster course is a two-day, hands-on workshop, filled with practical advice and time-tested techniques designed to give students the foundation they need to succeed using Scrum. The CSM course offers a detailed examination of the Scrum project lifecycle and the ScrumMaster role, going beyond the basic definitions to focus on how to achieve success as a ScrumMaster with Scrum. Course delivery is varied for optimal learning, with activities ranging from case study analyses and in-depth lectures to hands-on exercises and interactive games. Each person will leave this course empowered with practical, applicable advice and skills they can immediately apply once they return to the office.  Course Benefits  Upon completion of the course, students are eligible for the following benefits:  Two-Year membership with the Scrum Alliance and the CSM designation Certification exam fee included Can earn PDUs (one PDU per contact hour with the Project Management Institute) Satisfy 14 of the 21 required training contact hours for the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) as well as a strong foundation for the associated certifying exam Receive SEUs towards your Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) certification  Why an iOnAgility Course?  Organizations **** challenges at all phases of their agile implementations: from team-level execution and delivery to higher-level strategy, governance, and leadership. We know that for an organization to achieve agility, people at all levels must understand agile principles and be educated about agile processes like Scrum. Our foundational training courses are firmly rooted in the core agile principles and practices you need to achieve success, regardless of your ultimate role in the organization.  Frequently Asked Questions  Can I buy a seat with a Purchase Order?  At this time we can not accept purchase orders.  Do I get a copy of the materials for a class I take?  All participants will get a printed copy of the class workbook on the day they show up for a class.  Do classes count as credit for Professional Development Units (PDUs) for the PMP certification?  Yes, our classes are relevant to project managers and are eligible for PDUs. The general guidance is that every hour of relevant content within a class counts for a PDU, as such, a 2-day class would count for 14 PDUs.  How do I get my certificate and who issues it?  Students taking classes offering Scrum certificates (Certified ScrumMaster and Certified Product Owner) will receive their certifications from the Scrum Alliance. Included in these classes is a two-year membership with the Scrum Alliance and exam fee for the Certified ScrumMaster class. Shortly after completion of the class, participants will get an email from the Scrum Alliance indicating they are now members (and instructions for taking the exam for those in the CSM workshop). This membership includes access to exclusive content and the ability to print a copy of any Scrum certificates they have achieved.  What are the benefits of taking a class to learn about Agile & Scrum as opposed to simply reading books and articles on the topic?  Reading a book or other sources of written information about Agile & Scrum are valuable resources and we strongly encourage potential students to leverage these resources. Our training classes are designed to reinforce concepts with in-depth simulations and robust discussion. All of our course blend lecture, practice, and reflection. This allows participants to gain a much more profound understanding of the subject matter.  What do I need to bring to a class?  Our classes are designed to be a stand-alone experience and do not require participants to bring anything to a class other than an open mind and willingness to learn and perhaps something to take notes.  What should I wear to the class?  We will be doing many interactive simulations throughout the class, it is recommended that you dress comfortably. Because temperature varies in the training room, bring a sweater or jacket if you get cold easily.  What time do classes start and how long do they go each day?  Unless otherwise stated, all of our classes begin at 8:30am and run to 5:00pm, local time. Classes generally include a break for lunch around noon, as well as a brief break in the morning and afternoon.  What happens if a class is canceled?  In the case that a class is canceled by iOnAgility, participants are entitled to transfer to another class or receive a full refund at their discretion.  What is the cancellation policy for a seat I’ve already purchased?  Public training participants who cancel their registrations up to 30 days prior to the registered class will receive a full refund of the registration fees paid. In the event of a cancellation within 30 days of the scheduled class, registrants will receive a credit towards a future class. If a cancellation is made within 14 days of the scheduled class, the participant will be charged a 30% cancellation fee and the remaining registration fee will be credited towards a future class. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice prior to a class start, or registered participants who do not attend the training without providing prior notice will not be eligible for a refund or credit and will be charged the full amount of the registration. All cancellation requests must be made via email to info@ionagility.com. iOnAgility reserves the right to amend this policy at any time as well as review cancellation requests on a case-by-case basis in the event of family or health emergencies, hardship cases etc.  What is the average size of a class?  Our goal is to keep classes large enough that there is meaningful interaction among participants, but small enough so that everyone gets the attention of the instructor. Generally speaking, we aim to keep most classes sized between 8 and 20 participants. We do cap classes at 25 participants.
