Breastfeeding Norfolk Presents: A Day with Jack Newman

Breastfeeding Norfolk invites you to a day with physician, author and leading voice in breastfeeding support and advocacy, Dr Jack Newman. We are delighted that this study day will be jam-packed with information, evidence and experience regarding a whole host of breastfeeding related issues. Dr Newman will explode myths and fill in gaps, as he talks about breastfeeding attachment, weight gain, nappy output, jaundice, hypoglycemia, decreased milk supply and much more. No doubt, many of you will have questions and there will be a full session dedicated to Questions and Answers. A full programme with details of each session plus confirmation of Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs) for IBCLCs will be available nearer to the date. Ticket price includes coffee and refreshments throughout the day including lunch. Please contact the organisers with any special dietary requirements. This event is recommended for IBCLCs, Paediatricans, GPs, Midwives, Maternity Staff, Health Visitors, Nurses,  Students, Breastfeeding Peer Supporters, and any parents with a special interest in breastfeeding.  A creche will not be available. Babes in arms welcome. About Jack Newman: Dr Jack Newman is a Toronto paediatrician who has practised medicine for over 38years. He is globally renowned for his work with breastfeeding mothers and babies.Dr. Newman graduated from the University of Toronto medical school in 1970 andcompleted his internship at Vancouver General Hospital.  He subsequently trained inpaediatrics in Quebec City and then at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. In 1981,Dr. Newman became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, as well asBoard Certified by the American Academy of Paediatrics. He was a staff paediatrician at the Hospital for Sick Children emergency department for9 years and was the acting chief of emergency services.  In 1984, he founded the firsthospital-based breastfeeding clinic in Canada. He has been a consultant for UNICEF forthe Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, and he evaluated the first candidate hospitals inGabon, the Ivory Coast, and Canada.  In 2013, Dr. Newman was awarded the Queen’sJubilee Medal for service to the community. He is the founder of the InternationalBreastfeeding Centre. Dr Newman is the author of several books including «Dr. Jack Newman’s Guide toBreastfeeding», and «Breastfeeding: Empowering Parents». He has written articles andproduced videos, and has spoken at conferences worldwide. About the venue: The Kings Centre is a conference centre on King Street in beautiful Norwich, Norfolk. It is approximately 10 minutes walk or an 8-minute taxi ride from Norwich Railway Station. King Street is mostly pedestrianised but there is plenty of parking nearby, including Norwich Castle Mall car park, Riverside car park and Rouen Road.
