Birdcage of the Bay Curator's Tour

Join Queensland State Archives’ Senior Curator Phil Manning on an intimate tour of the exhibition Birdcage of the Bay: St Helena Island Prison. Birdcage of the Bay is a recreation of the St Helena prison stockade, using plans from the collection of Queensland State Archives and other historical sources to show the extent of the prison establishment and its myriad of prisoner stories. From unique island records and objects through to discoveries and a virtual reality recreation, this exhibition is an opportunity to catch glimpses of life at the St Helena Island Prison beyond the walls of the visitor box. You’re welcome to join us for a Behind-the-Scenes tour of our repositories with an Archivist from 11.30am-12.30pm. Separate bookings must be made here. Public tours are capped at 30 people.
