Designed for adolescents ages 13 to 17, and 18 if still in high school, the Adolescent Affected Family Member program is designed to promote the well-being of those who live or care about a person with an alcohol or other drug issue. Participants will learn through education and guidance: To be comfortable in their awareness that they are unable to change their loved one. To detach emotionally from the loved one’s issue. To love the individual, care about him/her and not care for him/her AND understand, without internalizing the concern. Become familiar with and learn to incorporate the three Cs: cause, controla and cure. You can’t «fix» the person, only yourself. Skills to help one detach from emotional pain. How to set healthy boundaries in relationships. Learn to be free to care and take responsibility for your own health and happiness. Class dates include: Sundays, October 6 to 27. Cost is $40 per person for each four-week program.
