The Yuba City 37th Annual Sikh Parade commemorates the Guru Gaddee inauguration holiday of Sikhism’s holy scripture, Siri Guru Granth Sahib, as the everlasting guru of the Sikhs. Every year, rain or shine, an increasing number of Sikh devotees and spectators flock to Yuba City, California for a weekend of festivities and the time honored tradition of Nagar Kirtan, a parade featuring devotional hymns.. All ethnic are welcomed. No matter what race, color religion you are please come and join us. Come support and learn the Sikh religion. 2016 Yuba City Annual Sikh Inaugural Festival Events Schedule: Friday November 4: 8 am – The 2016 Guru Gadee inaugural event in Yuba City CA starts off by worship service and kirtan. 8 pm Diwali Fireworks Saturday November 5: 9 am – Raising of Nishan Sahib, the Sikh flag followed by morning worship and kirtan. 2 pm – Open house, tour of gurdwara complex and grounds. 6 pm until Midnight – Rain sabaee kirtan worship service. Sunday November 6: 11 am – Guru Gadee Nagar Kirtan 37th Annual Sikh Parade. A float bearing Guru Granth Sahib is followed by a procession of floats and devotees winding through the streets of Yuba City along a 4 1/2 mile loop. Events are open to the public, everyone is welcome to attend. Langar, an estimated 400,000 free meals, served throughout the weekend. Dozens of decorative floats. A gatka sword dancing demonstration. A bazaar with shopping stalls and sellers of hard to find Sikh clothing, articles of faith, books, and a variety of other items such as dry good, blankets and carpets. Langar offered in the gurdwara langar hall, and from free food booths both on the gurdwara grounds and all along the parade route In the past years, estimates say that there has been at least 85,00-95,000 people in attendance from all around the country and around the world have attended.
