(214001) Readers' Workshop Level I

July 20 – 22, 2020 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. This institute will provide educators with the information necessary to implement a Readers’ Workshop inclusive of all learners for students in grades 5K-8. Time will be provided for participants to engage in the writing of mini-lessons and to practice the art of conferring. I can’t wait to see how my students respond to this!”                                                    Jamie, Holy Family Stephanie Leonard-Witte has been an educator for the past 28 years in Ohio, Indiana, Colorado and Wisconsin. She is the Assistant Superintendent for the Continuous Improvement of Teaching, Learning and Equity for the Sun Prairie Area School District.  Stephanie facilitates professional development in all areas of teaching and learning 4K through 12th grade in the lake country area and beyond. Her educational passion revolves around all areas of literacy with an emphasis on digital literacy and the universal design of instruction to include all learners in the general education classroom. Stephanie holds two masters’ degrees and is currently working on her PhD at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She is a certified educational coach and has attended numerous institutes held by the Columbia Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. Sarah Lang is the K-8th Grade Curriculum Coordinator in the Oconomowoc Area School District. Previously, she has taught 5th grade, 6th grade, ELL, and served as a Reading Specialist.. She facilitates literacy professional development for kindergarten through eighth grade staff in her district, as well as the surrounding area districts. With a love of learning, Sarah has served as a board member of the Waukesha County Reading Council and has attended many institutes in New York at Columbia Teachers College, such as Summer Reading and Writing Institutes and Coaching Institute. In her district, Sarah works closely with teachers, literacy coaches, and principals to support the implementation of literacy best practices in all classrooms. Kim Dabney is a reading specialist for Oconomowoc Schools who also consults and provides staff development in reading and writing instruction. She has taught for over 29 years in Wisconsin, Ohio and Minnesota. Committed to professional development, Kim regularly attends conferences and seminars at the Teacher’s College in New York and locally to keep current on the latest trends in literacy. Kim holds a masters degree and recently finished her administrative license. She finds great satisfaction working with district literacy leaders, teachers and reading specialists to move district initiatives forward.
