2017 APANO Day of Action

Join APANO on this collective Day of Action as we advocate for issues important to Asian and Pacific Islanders. We believe that anyone can add their voice to influence policy and gain more knowledge of the political process. Last year, community members made a difference in passing laws to provide health care coverage for COFA residents, and raise Oregon’s minimum wage. Be part of a powerful movement to advance racial justice in Oregon! What’s happening in 2017? Our state’s lawmakers will be meeting for several months beginning in February 2017. During this time, lawmakers will be reviewing and voting on policies that have an impact on our communities. This also means members can directly give input, and advocate for issues. On Presidents Day, February 20th, APANO will be in the Capitol with folks like YOU to talk about our priority issues in reproductive health, stable housing, education, and economic justice. The day will include meeting with legislators, a training to help prepare for meetings, and tour of the capitol building. Lunch will be provided and transportation will be available upon request. ** Please note this is specifically for Asian and Pacific Islander identifying folks. Allies interested in supporting our work are encouraged to join in advocacy days with our partners (such as NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon, Family Forward Oregon, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon, ACLU of Oregon, One Oregon Coalition, Stable Homes for Oregon Families Coalition and the Fair Shot For All Coalition).
